A Note from the Founders
We are excited to announce the formation of the Institute for Safer Trucking (IST). John Lannen, Harry Adler, and Jennifer Walsh founded this nonprofit to educate the public about research-based solutions to reduce the frequency and severity of truck crashes and to collaborate with all stakeholders involved in or impacted by truck crashes to make trucking safer in the United States.
Through IST, we aim to provide credible, expert analysis of truck crash data and take unbiased, data-driven positions on the preventable issues that cause truck crashes. We will also work to empower those who have been most adversely affected by the worsening state of truck safety – survivors and families of victims – and help them become advocates to promote policies that could have played a role in preventing their truck crash.
We are confident that this new chapter will allow greater collaborations with those impacted by truck crashes, motor carriers, technology companies, truck drivers, and safety advocacy groups to improve truck safety for all. We will also focus our education and related advocacy efforts so that we can have a greater impact raising public awareness about proven, consensus-based solutions that can reduce truck crashes, prevent injuries, and save lives today.
