how you can help
Connect Your Clients with Other Survivors and Families
A central part of our mission is to help truck crash survivors and the families of victims after their crash. Connecting with others who have undergone a similar loss or trauma can be helpful as they can better understand what your clients are going through. We can help connect your clients with our volunteers, who are also survivors and families, in two ways:
IST Support Network: If your client would like to talk to another person who underwent a similar experience with a truck crash, please contact us and we can set that up.
IST Monthly Zoom Meet Up: Each month IST hosts a Survivor Support Meet Up for the families and friends of victims and survivors of truck crashes. The Meet Ups cover getting to know each other, how IST can help them connect our network of support, and other changing topics ranging from advocacy to guest speakers from other organizations.
Advocacy
Another way we help truck crash survivors and the families of victims is by equipping them with the tools and training to become effective educators and advocates for improving truck safety in the United States. By sharing their stories, along with facts and research that IST provides, your clients can help policymakers and lawmakers recognize the true costs of inaction. This work can also help ensure that other families do not experience the loss or devastation that they endured.
If you know a survivor of family member that would be interested in advocating to make trucking safer, please share the link to our sign up or have them contact Jen Walsh directly.
